All eyes on ageing
It’s a disappointing fact of ageing that the skin around our eyes is usually the first to slacken, wrinkle or sag. Dr Mark Edinburg, Medical Director the
Eden Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery says that after years of crinkling your eyes through expression, the ‘dynamic’ lines – the ones that appear when you smile – will eventually become ‘static’, which means permanent. Dr Edinburg believes while eye products won’t remove deep lines, they may help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Interestingly, several eye products have been launched on to the market this month. Here is a selection of some of the most luxurious and technologically advanced eye treatments money can buy.
La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Eye Lift Cream (20ml), $460, might be hard on the hip pocket, but it’s a tremendous help for tired-looking eyes. With the star ingredient, caviar extract, it fights all signs of ageing including fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, loss of elasticity, puffiness, under-eye circles and dryness. It is available from September at David Jones and selected beauty salons nationally. For more information, call 1800 649 849.
La Mer The Eye Concentrate (15ml), $350, feels sensational when rolled around the eye area with its cooling silver-tipped wand. This tip has been designed to collect the exact amount of cream necessary to treat both eyes when dipped gently into the pot – so you will get the right dosage each time without fail. The cream contains a new powdered form of La Mer’s Miracle Broth – called Encapsulated Miracle Broth – that delivers its ingredients slowly in order to treat the skin throughout the day. It also includes a magnetised hematite, which reduces dark circles and puffiness. Available from 9 September at selected David Jones stores nationally.
Though not as lavish as the eye creams above,
Elizabeth Arden Intervene Eye Pause & Effect Eye Moisture Cream (15ml), $42, is a good contender. It contains Narcissus tazetta bulb extract as well as peptides and botanicals, which help firm and smooth the area as well as prevent future deterioration with continued use. Available now at Elizabeth Arden counters nationwide.
