Beauty basics: the perfect eyebrows
An eyebrow makeover has the power to completely transform your face. Follow our simple steps to perfect brows. A great eyebrow makeover can change a person’s face completely, disguising flaws or highlighting attractive features, according to eyebrow-grooming guru Sharon-Lee Hamilton .
Make-up artist Bobbi Brown says, ”A properly manicured brow can have the same effect as a surgical eyelift.” She believes your essential tools are a good pair of tweezers, an eyebrow pencil or pigment (Bobbi likes using brown eyeshadow), an eyebrow brush and a little gel to hold the brows in place.
While there’s no such thing as a universal brow shape that will suit every face, our tried and tested grooming rules will help define the shape of your brows.
- The first step is to create a good arch. Depending on the brows’ thickness, carefully pluck stray hairs under the brow bone, between brows and near the inner corners of your eyes. Ensure brow lines extend beyond the outside corners of eyes.
- “As a part of your daily routine, style your eyebrows with a brow brush,” says Sharon-Lee. Eyebrows should be brushed in the same direction as they grow.
- Finally, w ith a pencil or moistened brush dipped in eyeshadow, apply pigment in feathery strokes to fill in gaps and shape the arch, tapering the end to a soft point. Finish with a little gel.
If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then your eyebrows are surely their frames.
