One of the cornerstones of modern make-up application is the correct balance between the eyes and the lips – it’s fine to apply make-up to both, but they shouldn’t compete for attention.

This half-up, half-down style has an appealing retro glamour you could easily wear to a weekend lunch with friends. Of course, you could also just laze around looking stylish.
Kimberley begins by taking a horseshoe of hair from the front. She then backcombs it at the roots with a small brush – you could also use a comb - to give it real volume on top of the head. "The most important thing is to go gently so you don't break the hair and also so you don't end up with it
too tight," she explains.
After creating volume, Kimberley takes this section of hair round the back. After combing it gently to make sure the hair is sitting well, she twists it clockwise and loosely pins it back on itself with fringe pins.
She then secures it with two bobby pins. A piece of hair from the horseshoe section is then loosely pulled over to conceal the twist.
If you have a fringe, Kimberley suggests teasing out a couple of strands around the face to soften the look, which she describes as "reminiscent of a ‘60s Priscilla Presley".
This versatile look can be dressed up or down for easy glamour.
