How to create a milk glass vase accompanying image

Opaque and softly clouded, milk glass is now a collector’s item, and often very expensive. This simple technique turns a plain glass vase into something that approximates the gentle glow of milk glass. Use a non-water-based paint in a soft, pastel colour.

Pour a small amount of paint into the base of the vase. Turn the vase, swirling the paint inside, until the whole interior is coated.  Start with a small amount of paint and add more as you need it. Once satisfied with the coverage, set the vase aside for two weeks to dry. Turn the piece periodically as it dries to achieve an even finish. Touch up any missed spots. Allow to dry completely before use.
