How to make Easter baskets

Backyard egg hunts are a delicious way to start the festivities on Easter Sunday. The excitement of a visit from the Easter bunny runs high. Despite a campaign to replace him with a bilby, the Easter bunny has remained part of our cultural landscape. If you’re expecting a visit this year, why not make these sweet little baskets. Whether your hunt is a free-for-all or a carefully arranged treasure trail, having your own basket makes collection easy.
Making our Easter baskets
You will need
Noodle boxes, paper cups, paper party bags, coloured paper, crepe paper or tissue paper, pompoms, flower stickers, lettering stickers (all from scrapbooking stores, craft stores and newsagents).
- Paper bag basket
Fold the bottom of the bag in on itself, so it is flat. Cut out two rectangles from the top opening, leaving two strips in the centre of the bag, fold these over to form a handle. Use a hot glue gun or double-sided tape to attach the decorations. Use crepe or tissue paper to create a nest for the eggs. - Paper cup basket
Cut the top half off the cup. Use a stapler or glue to attach it to the cup for the handle. Glue some grass made from tissue or crepe paper around the cup, then decorate with flower stickers. - Bunny noodle box
Cut paper to create a bunny face and feet. Attach to the front of the box, then use lettering stickers for the name. Attach a pompom to the back for the tail.
