from the past using a pressure cooker or slow cooker, also known as a crock pot. They’re an excellent and time-efficient way to prepare hearty meals. Slow cookers are an electric appliance designed to be filled and programmed in the morning. Most models operate according to a preset timer.
Pressure cookers are designed to be used in much the same way, but using a stovetop hob instead of electricity. Pressure cookers require more supervision than slow cookers, but recent models are incredibly safe, with none of the explosive tendencies of earlier versions.
Traditional cast-iron casseroles and French ovens are a good alternative, although they don’t offer the same convenience of preparing a dish and leaving it to cook unattended.
Both can be used on the stovetop or in the oven to make hearty stews and soups. Pudding basins are ideal for making decadent desserts, which are guaranteed to warm everyone's heart.
