Mother’s day means flowers, so we compiled some great tips on how to display and keep blooms fresh.
Keep a range of different styles of vases on hand to suit a variety of flowers and create an eclectic arrangement.
Regularly trim the ends of flower stems at an angle. Stems seal up and re-cutting them will help flowers draw up fresh water.
Add one teaspoon each of sugar, bleach and white vinegar to the water to extend flowers‘ vase life and reduce slimy build up. Also, replace the vase water regularly.
Even a single bloom can look very pretty when displayed in a simple bud vase.
Tulips are the only flowers that continue growing once they‘re cut, so trim often.
If the vase is clear glass, the stems willbe visible and become part of the display. Make sure stems are clean, and stripped of leaves below the water-line.
weigh down the base and support flowers, but they must be cleaned regularly. A ball of chicken wire offers effective support for woody stems.
Clean your vases with warm soapy water and a bottle brush. Fill hard-to-clean vases with water and add a dissolvable Disprin tablet for a sparkling clean.
Avoid matching your arrangement to the size of your vase in a 50:50 ratio. A single bloom (one third flowers) or masses of twigs (two thirds flowers) looks balanced.

Notebook, I adore fresh flowers in my home & always have an arrangement on display! I have tested all ways to extend the flowers life & can confidently say that trimming the stems & changing to clean fresh tap water daily, is by far the winning way of them lasting much longer! Rebecca :)
